FOTOFACIAL
What is Fotofacial? A non-invasive form of skin rejuvenation using intense pulsed light and radiofrequency to improve signs of aging and sun-damage. No down time.
What does it do? Reduces redness, blushing, rosecea, broken capillaries, brown spots and discoloration, freckling, pore size, and fine wrinkles. Gives patients a more smooth, even complexion.
How long do the treatments take? A face alone takes 15-20 minutes, longer if we are doing more parts of the body. We usually apply numbing cream for about 30 minutes prior to treatment. For the first treatment we will apply numbing cream at our office prior to taking before photos, but for the remaining treatments you can apply the cream before coming in.
How many treatments will I need? Studies have shown that the optimal results are after a series of 5 treatments.
How often can I get a treatment? Every 3 weeks, as long as you do not have any signs of sun exposure.
Do the treatments hurt? You will feel a stinging sensation during the treatment. We use numbing cream and cool air to minimize the discomfort. The treatments are generally very well tolerated.
What will I look like after the treatment? You will have some redness for a couple of hours that will go away. You may feel like you have a slight sunburn for the remainder of the day, but that will resolve within 24 hours. Any brown spots you have will get slightly darker after the treatment, and then they fade within 4-5 days.
What if I have a tan? We cannot do the treatment if you have any tan or sunburn. We recommend that you have no unprotected sun exposure for at least 6 weeks prior to the treatment. If you use the Mystic Tan or Self Tanners, you should not use them 7-10 days prior to your treatment.

What areas can be treated? Most areas on the face and neck.
How is it different than Thermage? Polaris has been found to be more effective and less painful than Thermage.
Does it hurt? We use numbing cream and cold air to help minimize the pain, but it does have some discomfort involved.
How many treatments will I need? We recommend a series of 5 treatments, spaced 3 weeks apart.
How often can I have a treatment? Every 3 weeks.
Can it be done while doing the Fotofacial? Yes. We encourage both treatments to be done together for better results.
What will I look like immediately after the treatment? You will have some redness in the areas that we performed the treatment. This may last for the remainder of the day. It is also common to have some swelling anywhere from 24 hours to several days.

RESTYLANE / PERLANE
What is it? Restylane and Perlane are fillers used to lessen the appearance of wrinkles.
Which one would I need? You will need to come in for a consultation to see which filler you would best be a candidate for.
What areas can be filled? Most areas on the face with wrinkling and areas you want to enhance (lips, cheeks).
Can acne scars be filled? Dr. Bitter does fill some acne scars. You will need to schedule a consultation with him to see if you are a candidate for it.
What will I look like after the treatment? It depends greatly on the area it will be injected. Any time you enter the skin with a needle there is chance of bruising, but we minimize the risk by using cold air and ice. You may also experience some redness immediately after the treatment.
Do I need to have a skin test? No. It is a different molecule than collagen and there is no skin testing required.

HAIR REMOVAL
What do you use? We use the newest intense pulsed light technology which combines intense pulsed light with RF. This allows us to protect your skin surface while better disabling the hair follicle.
How many treatments will I need? That is based on your individual skin and hair type. Most people achieve satisfactory clearance after 4-8 treatments. Each Aurora treatment will result in less hair coming back.
Does it hurt? You will feel a stinging sensation during the treatment but it is generally very well tolerated. We use numbing cream and cold air to help minimize the discomfort.
Can you do it on darker skin? Yes - with the technology available to us, we are able to do this on darker skinned individuals. We are not able to do this on African Americans, unless they have lighter skin.
Can I have a tan during the treatments? No. We recommend that you have only your natural skin color during the treatments. Extra pigmentation caused by the sun may cause complications.
